Obituary of Samuel K. Franklin

Samuel K. Franklin, age 72, entered into rest Monday, February 6, 2017, peacefully at his residence.
Mr. Franklin was born April 2, 1944, in Augusta, GA to the late Clyde and Alma Franklin. He was a Navy Veteran and retired from Southeastern Freight Lines in North Augusta, SC. Mr. Franklin was an avid collector and restorer of antiques. He also had a passion for home restoration, fishing, camping, and traveling with his wife on their Harley. He enjoyed being Santa Claus at Harley-Davidson of Augusta, Stevens Creek Church, the Sterling House in N. Augusta, and various churches in the area.
Mr. Franklin was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is loved and respected by all who knew him. He volunteered with LOTS Ministry in Augusta, GA and was a previous member of The Brotherhood of Jesus Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Sarah Franklin; two daughters, Kennda Greer (Keith), Hephzibah, GA and Maggie Fischofer (Chip), Augusta, GA; two sons, Sam Franklin II (Diana), Butler, GA and Charles Shoup (Jennifer), Beech Island, SC; thirteen grandchildren, Howard Greer, Kayla Greer Collins, Brandon Franklin, Cory Franklin, Dylan Franklin, Kevin Greer, Lauren Shoup, Carlie Shoup, Joshua Greer, Korinna Greer, Kandace Greer, Eli Fischofer and Charles Fischofer; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Billie Jean Crawford (Eddie), Augusta, GA; and a brother, Pete Franklin (Rella), Grovetown, GA.
Visitation will be this Friday evening at George Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the George Funeral Chapel with Gary Cobb and Randy Tindall officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in historic Magnolia Cemetery, Augusta, GA.
