A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Michael Everett ''Goody'' Goodale will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at 4 PM at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, Aiken, SC, with The Reverend Scotty Nead officiating. Members of the Silver Bluff High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Team will serve as honorary pallbearers. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 30, 2003 at 9 AM, in Forsyth Memorial Park, Winston-Salem, NC. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 27, 2003 from 6-8 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC, and also on Thursday, May 29, 2003 from 7-9 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC. Mr. Goodale, 59, of Aiken, SC, husband of Mrs. Patricia Malloy Goodale, died Saturday, afternoon, May 24, 2003 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, Aiken, SC. Born in Winston-Salem, NC, Mr. Goodale was the son of Mary Nifong Goodale, Aiken, SC, and the late Ralph Everett Goodale. He was a 1961 graduate of John W. Hanes High School, Winston-Salem, NC, a 1963 graduate of Wingate Jr. College, Wingate, NC and a 1972 graduate of Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, GA. A resident of Aiken, SC, he had formerly been a resident of Huntsville, AL. Coach Goodale was a teacher at Silver Bluff High School, coached girls basketball, and was head coach of the Silver Bluff High School Varsity Girls Volleyball team. He was named Coach of the Year in Region 5 AA in 2001, 2002, and 2003. He was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, Aiken, SC. He is survived his wife Pat of thirty-nine years and his mother, Mary Nifong Goodale, a daughter, Karen Goodale Carter and her husband, Christopher Kelly Carter, Aiken, SC, survive. The family has requested that memorials be made to Silver Bluff High School Girls Volleyball Scholarship Fund, 64 DeSoto Dr., Aiken, SC, 29803. The Scholarship has been established in honor of Coach Michael ?Goody? Goodale.
