Funeral services for Mr. George Howard Herron will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 1pm at South Aiken Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Dyar officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Victor Odom, James Brown, Nathan Fulmer, Chris Cushman, Robert Cushman, and Kyle George. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken. Fund, 980 Doughtery Rd, Aiken, SC, 29803. Mr. Herron, 74, of Springfield, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at The Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg. Born to the late Jasper and Lucy Herron, he was born in Franklin County, GA and lived in Aiken before moving to Springfield in 1985. He was a self employed knife maker. He retired after twenty years of service at DuPont Savannah River Site as a machinist. He was a member of and past president of the Knife Makers Guild, and SC Association of Knife Makers. He was also a proud member of the NRA. Mr. Herron served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Army. In addition to his parents, Mr. Herron is predeceased by his brother, Billy Herron, and sister, Helen Herron. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Barbara Cothran Herron, daughters, Deborah Mike Fulmer, Dianne Harry George, both of Aiken, Donna Hoover, Springfield, sisters, Betty Stonecypher, Covington, GA, Scarlet Jeffrie, Toccoa, GA, brothers, Charles Herron, Jack Herron, both of Toccoa, grandchildren, Nathan Fulmer, Heather Homans, Robert Cushman, Christopher Cushman, Kelli George, Kyle George, and great grandchild, Rebekah Cushman.
