Herbert Peirce Witter Herb, 78, o f Aiken, passed away April 5, 2007 at home caring for the farm and doing what he loved. As representative of his life he was surrounded with family, friends and many loved ones. He is lovingly survived by a son, Herbert P. Witter II, and four daughters, Milisa Witter Godson, Cindy Witter Ray, husband, Randy P. Ray, Renee' Witter Fowler, husband Mike Fowler, all of Aiken, and Aimee Witter Bennett, and husband Kevin Bennett of Rochester, NY. Also, six grandchildren, Christopher Godson, Nick Witter, Kayla Godson, Walter Ray, Jonathon Ray, all of Aiken, and Regan McKenzie Bennett of Rochester, NY. His newest addition is one great grandson, William Matthew Godson. Also surviving is his special friend/former wife Oleen Redd Witter and his best friend of 72 years, Bob and Betty Stockwell of Sutton, MA. Nieces and nephews, Wayne Bloomquist, Arthur Bloomquist, Karen B. Vose, Scott Warren, Sandy W. Ringgard , Steve Warren, Stewart Warren, Bill Heath, Lynn Hicks, Greg Gordon, and Shana Strafaci. Two sisters Betty Lou Bloomquist and Dorothy Warren, both of whom predeceased him. He was born in Worchester, MA, son of Harold Carter Witter and Mildred Elizabeth Peirce Witter. He graduated from Millbury Mass High and Cushing Academy prior to graduating from Vanderbilt University. He was in the Marine Reserve prior to coming to Aiken in 1953 where he was employed by DuPont and Westinghouse for 40 years at SRP/SRS. He retired in 1993 and has enjoyed his small farm as a hobby. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi social fraternity and Beta Beta Beta scholastic fraternity as well as an Eagle Boy Scout which he was active with for many years. He is a member of the Cattleman's Association of Aiken. He was a member and past Deacon at Aiken First Baptist Church and was a faithful attendant at Cedar Creek Church. The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Cedar Creek Church, 3001 Banks Mill Road and officiated by Pastor Richard Swift and Pastor Phillip Lee. Burial will be in Aiken Memorial Gardens on Edgefield Highway, Aiken following the service. Family visitation will be on Monday, April 9, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Avenue, Aiken. Pall bearers will be Chris Godson, Nick Witter, Kayla Godson, Walter Ray, Jonathon Ray, and Regan Bennett, Milledge Clyatt, Luc Godard, Jim Reed, and George Piper. Honorary Pall Bearers are team members of Ryan's of Aiken.
