AIKEN, SC- Jeanenne Gayle (McMillen) Featherston, 73, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 18, 2016. Jeannie was born June 7, 1943 in Huntingdon, WV to Clarence and Mary (Ball) McMillen and moved to Miami, FL while an infant. She was preceded in death by both parents.
Jeannie was the much beloved wife of Joseph F. Featherston. They met while employed by National Airlines in Miami in 1978, were married in October of 1983 and celebrated 33 years of a rewarding marriage. She is survived by her daughter JoAngelia (Russell) Moody of Asheville NC, brother William (Jane) McMillen of Boca Raton FL, two nieces Stacy Shapiro and Kathy Mitchell, stepson William (Joyce) Featherston of Vero Beach FL, stepdaughter Diane (Gene) McMillan of South Riding VA, stepdaughter Lynn Featherston of Round Hill VA, seven grandsons, one granddaughter, and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and eldest grandson, Joey Baratta.
Jeannie graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High School in 1961 and enjoyed a fulfilling life of travel and creating an incredible number of friends across the country.
Jeannie was a flawless entertainer that truly made a house a home. She was gifted at flower arrangements and being a gracious hostess making everyone feel welcome. Active in the Cedar Creek Ladies Club, Jeannie worked behind the scenes to write hundreds of sympathy and condolence cards to the Cedar Creek community, all with a personal touch. She was truly beloved by everyone that met her and never had a bad word to say or backed away from helping others.
A prayer service and visitation will be held at George Funeral Home, 211 Park Avenue, Aiken, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. with the prayer service at 6:15 P.M. on Friday, August 26, 2016. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at the old historic St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, corner of Park Avenue and York Street, at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 27, 2016 with the Very Reverend Gregory Wilson as celebrant.
