Joe,
I was so sorry to hear about your sudden loss. Jeannie was always a gracious hostess on a moment's notice (Oakton, VA memories with my sister) May you find solace in your wide circle of friends, family, and Marine Corps League colleagues.

I had the pleasure of playing Mah Jongg & Canasta with Jeannie here in Cedar Creek. I will never forget the lovely card with the beautiful note she had written to our family when our youngest son was diagnosed with an un-curable disease this year. She always took the time to ask how he is every time I would see her. Her smile and being so caring of others will surely be missed. She and your family are in our thoughts & prayers.

I had the pleasure of working with Joe years ago. For some time we worked out of Joe and Jeannie's basement known as The Bunker. Jeannie was a special lady as so many of the friends and family have said. Jeannie was a treasure that will be missed.

Jeannie was a first cousin. I have very fond memories of her and family visits to my home on Trace Branch, her grandfather lived in the home with me and my mother Bessie.
I looked forward to the holiday season when we would receive the holiday letter from the Featherston family.
So sorry Joe, on the loss of your beautiful, loving, and caring wife. With love, Nanetta (Ball) Collins Hardwick-- Fort Gay, WV

God Bless you Joe and family, I know your hearts are breaking as are so many friends and family.
I
Even though we were cousins I did not really get to know Jeannie until we were in high school. She and her family lived in Florida and we lived in Indiana. After I graduated I took a trip to Florida to visit Jeannie and her family and that was where we got acquainted. Right from the the start she made me feel so welcome and invited me to share her exciting high school life. She was a high school senior that year and getting ready for her prom. We had such a great time shopping for just the right dress and talking and giggling like young girls do. She was so beautiful in everything she tried on but was very modest and wanted just the right look. I don't think she realized what a beautiful woman she was all her life, inside and out.
It was many years before we met again but you would think it was no time at all because you both made me feel right at home when I visited . As soon as I walked in the door I felt right at home. The last time I saw her was at Jan's home where I was visiting and you stopped for a visit when you were travelling. She was just as sweet and beautiful as I remembered.
I talked to Jeannie just a couple of weeks ago and we were catching up on family and she was looking forward to your trip the following Monday. Even though we didn't see each other often I will always remember her kindness and caring and beauty.
Bye Jeannie, You were such a bright beautiful caring person in all our lives.
Love Chris Newhouse

Jeannie, my cousin, my friend it is so hard to believe you are gone. Always beautiful, fun, soft-spoken with an infectious laugh and a kind word for everyone. I enjoyed our talks on the phone, emails and most of all when you and Joe visited me here on the farm. It was wonderful reminiscing our childhoods together with my sister Chris and going through the old picture albums.
Along with many happy memories, I remember a sad time in our lives when you lovingly cared for your Mom during her last illness and your gentle firmness with Aunt Blanch during those difficult times. You, dear Jeanie were born to make this world a better place and you did. You will be missed by so many. May you rest in sweet peace.
With love,
Janet Davis

On behalf of the Cedar Creek Ladies Club I am sharing this memory of Jeannie. Jeannie was a long-standing member of our Club, as well as an active participant in our Lunch Bunch committee. Even more significant was her commitment to being our Sunshine Chairwoman. Over the years she sent notes and cards to many members of our community who were ill, recovering from surgery, or needed healing words at a time of loss. She touched the lives of many with her thoughtful and kind words. Her bright smile and sweet personality will be missed by all who knew her.

I met Jeannie at a Steeplechase event. I asked for a recipe which she readily shared. Even though I knew her only briefly, after my husband passed away, when I saw her at church, she would take my hand or touch my arm and sincerely ask how I was doing. Her compassion always touched my heart. I will miss her warm and sweet smile.
My deepest sympathies,
Karen Van Deren

What a wonderful and loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend she was. We had some wonderful fun times over the years! Jeannie was always up for an adventure especially when we were working for the airlines and would go off to places like Hong Kong just to shop and turn around and head back home. She would always be there for anyone in need. She never made a big deal out of any of the wonderful things she did it was just her way. We could go for weeks or sorry to say some times even months without talking and then when we did speak it was like we just saw each other and the laughs would begin all over again. She will be sorely missed and will always be in my heart and on my mind. Rest in Peace my Dear Friend. My love and prayers to Joe and the family. I know there will never be another person like her. Lots of Love & Prayers Billie Groff
