Wes had an unusual capacity for making people feel good. Whether on the tennis courts at Fermata, which was sometimes a second home to him, or at professional or social gatherings, he had the ability to welcome people into his world. Perhaps his kindness was accentuated by his knowledge and experience in the military of what this world was like when there was no kindness and no humanity.
You can tell a lot about a person by hearing the tones in other people's voices when they say his name. When Wes's name was spoken, it was always with warmth, friendship, and love.
We, and all who knew him, will miss him very much.

Mrs. Hussey,
As we would come to piano lessons, Wes would always stick his head out the kitchen door to say hello. He was so willing to share the bounty of his garden with me and the kids. It meant so much to Daniel that Wes took time pitching with him in your back yard and even playing some tennis. He was so kind and I know he will be missed. We love you and are praying for you and your family during this time.

Dear Harriet and all the Hussey\'s,
You are all in our prayers as we remember the large unique place Everett occupied in our young lives as we started down life\'s pathway in 1953, separated only by one thin wall at Colleton Court. From those early days to our reconnection when we found our backyards contigious on Magnolia and Calhoun Streets, we found that early pleasure revisited.
Seeing the kids grow up together with you and Everett always there with a good and pleasant word is one of our fond memories. Those days brought lots of opportunities to forge a life-long friendship.
After the youngsters went their own ways and we moved away our times together were less frequent but the connection remained. I especially remember the trip to New Orleans, which I talked Everett into joining me to bring 3963N home after I had to leave it there and complete my business trip to Texas. We shared thoughts & memories like no other time we were ever together. I\'ll treasure that occasion and the honor and pleasure of sharing in a very private part of Everett\'s experience.
And to refresh that memory last fall when you allowed me to visit with both of you was and will remain a cherished insight into the heart of a great friend and colleague.
We will have you in our prayers and hope to see and offer our best to you at the service. Ben
I\'m the "typer" and he\'s the "composer". But I want to add a word of ditto to all he has said about Wes plus all the things we have shared together, Harriet - your giving piano lessons to all the children, our walking together in recent days, and many times we\'ve just "visited and talked". You are a great friend and neighbor and I\'ll look forward to many more times of our getting together. We love you, Eunice

About 40 years ago, I played baseball for Coach Hussey on the same team mentioned by my successor at First Base, Ernie Law, below. We lost our first three games, then won three before losing our last 16 games in a row. But Coach Hussey kept encouraging us and we still had fun that summer. He and John Murdoch were important role models for me back then. The fact that I can still remember that season and most of those games illustrate the respect I had for Coach Hussey. He is a man that I always addressed as Coach even as an adult, and that is how I will remember him always. How ironic that another teammate on that Dixie Youth baseball team, Bill Jacober, lost his mother the same week that Coach Hussey passed away.
My prayers and thoughts are with the Hussey family. May God bless and comfort you.

Mr. Wes Hussey was quite a guy. He was warm and funny and an inspiration to guys like me. I played Dixie Youth baseball for him 12 years old. I was shy and he encouraged me and helped me be a better player. Later he and I were both with the famous \'69 Aiken Pony League team he as a coach and me as a 16-yr. old cub reporter for the Aiken Standard when they advanced all the way to the World Series. He helped me rent a car in Ohio. He was always warm and funny.
To the Hussey family: I will remember y\'all in my prayers. Wes Hussey was a wonderful man.
