AIKEN, SC- DON G. EBENHACK, passed away January 28, 2015 at the age of 94. Mr. Ebenhack was the son of the late Clarence and Elizabeth Gragg Ebenhack. Don graduated with a B.S. in Organic Chemistry from Ohio State. He was hired by E. I. duPont right out of college and worked for the next 38 years. He was part of the Manhattan Project during WWII. Don moved to Aiken in 1951 where he helped with the building and start-up of the Savannah River Plant and held many supervisory positions in his career. He has been involved in the community with the Red Cross, Guardian at Litem program, Aiken Tech, Aiken Playhouse, Meals on Wheels, and the Aiken County Historical Museum. He attended the First Presbyterian Church where he was active in the choir, and served as a deacon and elder. His hobbies included gardening and fishing. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by Jean, his wife of 59 years; a grandson, Travis Miller, and his sister, Ruth Moser. Survivors include his children: David (Rebecca Reeser) Ebenhack, Sapphire, NC , Ellen (Robert) Miller, Aiken, SC , and Peter (Julie Roberts) Ebenhack, Westminster , SC; seven grandchildren: Eben (Nycki) Miller, Zeke (Erin) Miller, Vivian (Ross Matthews) Ebenhack, Meredith Ebenhack, Johnathan Ebenhack, Sarah Ebenhack, and Elias Ebenhack; and four great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church of Aiken. The Reverends Brian Coulter and Maratha Ebel officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. There will be a private family burial. A special thank you goes to Shadow Oaks for their wonderful and kind care of Dad over the last 5 years and to Alliance Hospice for their being there with dad and family the last months of his life.
