Funeral services for Mrs. Dixie M. Lewis will take place on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 11:00am at South Aiken Presbyterian Church with Rev. Christopher Crotwell officiating. Private Entombment will take place at Bush River Memorial Gardens, Columbia. Visitation will be on Monday evening, 6-8pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken. Memorial donations may be directed to South Aiken Presbyterian Church 1711 Whiskey Rd. Aiken, SC 29803. Mrs. Lewis, 67, of Aiken, died Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Heartland Hospice House, Columbia. A daughter of the late Lyle and Helen Goodrich Miller, she was born in Bradford, PA and had lived in Columbia for twenty five years before moving to Aiken in 2002. She retired as an executive secretary for Lexington County School District #5 where she had worked for a quarter of a century before retiring in 1997. Mrs. Lewis was a member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church, where she was an Elder and a Stephen Minister. She was also a member of The Saint Andrews Scottish Society of Aiken, Robert Byrnes Scottish Society of the Midlands, Clan MacLeod Society, USA and was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquities, Scotland. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, O.A. McCaskill, who died in 1988. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband, Gordon Albert Lewis, Aiken, two sons, David and his wife, Joann McCaskill, Irmo, SC and John and his wife Phyllis McCaskill, Columbia, SC, a daughter, Rhonda and her husband Steve Sandel, Irmo, SC, four step-sons, Jeff Lewis, Brad and his wife Joan Lewis, Tim and his wife Denise Lewis and Greg and his wife Dawn Lewis, all of London Ontario, Canada. She is also survived by a foster daughter, Amy Salley Faber, Columbia, SC, three grandchildren, Cameron Sandel, McKenzie Sandel and Daniel McCaskill and a close friend, Christa K. Rautter, Clarksville, TN.
