Obituary of Christine Marie Rothammer

A Requiem Mass for Ms. Christine Marie "Chris" Rothammer will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday evening, 6-8pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken.
Ms. Rothammer, 56, of Aiken, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at University Hospital, Augusta, GA.
A daughter of the late William and Mary Folina Rothammer, she was born in Dayton, OH and had lived in Miami, FL before moving to Aiken sixteen years ago.
She graduated from the University of Dayton and then earned her Masters Degree in geology at Texas Christian University. She also took specialized study at Southern California Ocean Studies Consortium in marine sciences and marine geology. Her work was published eight times, including private publishing and also by Library of Congress and she had been inducted into Sigma XI for outstanding research.
Chris taught at Langford Middle School, Hephzibah Middle, Augusta, GA and Edison Senior High, Miami, Fl. As a teacher she was a mentor to her students. She was currently studying theology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH. She also enjoyed the customer service work she performed at Sitel in Augusta, GA.
Chris was an inspirational and deeply spiritual person. She was dedicated to living the Catholic faith. She loved knitting, crafting, reading traveling and fine dining.
She is survived by many loving cousins, friends, students and co-workers.
