Dear Sandy, Mary Ann, and families,
Our thoughts are with you. I will always remember the times, so long ago now, when our families celebrated the holidays together. I remember your mother bedecked with a smile, in her apron cooking for us all in your home in Meadeville, and all of us together in her old family home on the farm, perhaps going for a walk through the orchards after a festive meal and a football game. I imagine that the last few years have been hard on you all, and that the losses to your family leave you with empty seats at the table. I hope that the memories of the holidays of our youth may sustain you, and perhaps even enable you to look upon those absences with a smile.

I am one of the many women who\'s life was touched in a most significant way by your mother. "Mrs. Harris" as we at Allegheny College called her spent countless hours working with Alpha Chi Omega. I doubt she ever realized how influential she was with the young women she worked with. Very young and often quite foolish we had the utmost respect for your mother. We would often ask ourselves "What would Mrs. H think or do?", before making a difficult decision. I certainly hope my young daughter will have someone to look to in such a way. I still often ask myself "what would Mrs. Harris do in this situation?"
I recall her patiently sitting through hours and hours, and HOURS of our meetings as we young gals struggled with group decision making and leadership. To help pass the time, she always had some gorgeous piece of needlework in her hand! I still have a set of placements and napkins that she made for me as a wedding gift and I cherish them as well as a number of her WONDERFUL recipes she shared.

Dear Nancy Lee, Sandy and MaryAnne and families. Our hearts and prayers are with all of you and of course Mary Belle. Although we have not been able to be with her physically the past few years she has been in our hearts and prayers. She was such a lovely, special loving lady - she will remain alive in all of us who were fortunate enough to have been close to her. Our only thought is that now she is with her "H"....God Speed. Love from all of us here in Meadville!
