To Vance's Family, I was very sorry to read of Vance's passing. I knew Vance in the SRL Reactor Physics Group and continued to enjoy his friendship over the years in seeing him at the famous Lake Parties Tom Gorrell hosted. At one of these parties Vance took me out on his Sunfish and educated me a bit on sailing. I will miss Vance and his good sense of humor. My thoughts are with him and you, his family. He was always friendly and willing to help anyone, and he had a great sense of humor. He was affectionately called "veeder," a unit of measure for the position of control rods and which sort of fit in with his initials. I moved away from the area temporarily in the late 60's and our paths never crossed again, but I never forgot him. God rest his soul and bless you all. Jim Morrison
