A funeral liturgy for Mr. James Kenneth Stucko, 71, of Aiken, will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 4, 2009 at George Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 211 Park Avenue, S.W., in Aiken. Interment will be private. Mr. Stucko died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at his residence. The family will receive friends after the funeral service at a reception at Newberry Hall, 117 Newberry Street, S.W. in Aiken. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The University of Notre Dame, Law School Advancement, c/o Ms. Jill Donnelly, 110 Grace Hall, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Casimir Sztuczko and Mae Jarecki Sztuczko. Jim received his bachelor degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame in 1961. While in law school at The University of Notre Dame he was the Managing Editor of the Notre Dame Law Review. He graduated in 1962. Jim practiced law with the Firm of Pedersen & Houpt for over 30 years, retiring to Aiken in 2001. In 2003, Jim became Of Counsel for the law firm of Hull, Towill, Norman, Barrett & Salley in Augusta, GA. He was a member of the Chicago, Illinois and Georgia Bar Associations. While at both firms he focused on all aspects of commercial law, including mergers and acquisitions, financing, real estate, land use and municipal law. He represented business owners ranging from privately held companies to New York Stock Exchange companies. Jim was elected to membership in Lambda Alpha, a land use economics honorary society. He also wrote articles for the Illinois State Bar Local Government Newsletter and IICLE publications. Mr. Stucko was a member of the Green Boundary Club and a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. He also loved to read and play golf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marcia Stucko Golding. He is survived by his wife, Christine Jensen Stucko, sons, James Mary Stucko, Jr., of Columbus, OH; Steven Stucko of Amherst, MA; daughter, Erin Stucko Michael Buscemi, of Thornville, OH; brother Alvin Carol Stucko of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Katharine Stucko, Megan Stucko, Jack Stucko and Nicholas Buscemi.
