I loved my Grandaddy more than most will ever know, and he loved me. When I visited him we would talk for hours about anything and everything. I lived far away from him for most of my life, so I would always try to make the most of my visits with him. My brother and I will always have fond memories of our fishing trips with him; the sun shining down on us while we feasted on whatever Meme had prepared us for lunch. Iâ??ll also have great memories of Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners and the conversation that would follow until late into the night. I should be there today, but I am not. For reasons that are beyond my control, but God knows I tried, I wonâ??t be there to pay you my last respects to serve as your pallbearer. Iâ??ve been robbed of that honor; but Iâ??ll be there tomorrow, rain or shine, in my service dress blues to visit your grave. Iâ??ll miss you Grandaddy, send Meme my love.
