Obituary of John Matthew Beck

Funeral services for John Matthew "Matt" Beck, 37, of Matthews, NC, formerly of Aiken, will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Chapel of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME. Officiating will be Pastor Clyde Hardin. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Victory Junction, 4500 Adam's Way, Randleman, NC, 27317. Matt passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Born in Aiken, SC, he was the son of Debbie Waters and the late John Wayne Beck. He was a graduate of Aiken High School and was a General Manager for Regional Finance. Matt worked with Regional Finance in Aiken for 5 years before transferring to Charlotte where he has spent the past 10 years. In his spare time he enjoyed off road adventures in his Jeep with his friends, bowling, target shooting, traveling, spending time with his children and pulling for the Georgia Bulldogs as their #1 fan. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Dot Morrell and his paternal grandparents, Olin and Geraldine Beck. Following the services in Aiken, there will be a Memorial Mass on Monday, August 3, 2015, at 7 pm at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte, NC, 28277. Survivors include his wife, Sarah DeMaison-Beck of Matthews; his twins, Anabel and Ethan of Matthews; his mother, Debbie Waters (Thirl) of Aiken; a sister, Kelli Bach (Mike) of Aiken; his mother and father-in-law, Sherry and Dave DeMaison of Matthews; a brother-in-law, Matt DeMaison (Christina) of Mineral Springs, NC; his niece, Heidi Bach of Aiken; his lifelong best friend, Robby Powers of Aiken and his Scottish Terrier, Charlie Bones.
