Uncle Bob was such a foundation for the California Malloys. He meant so much to us all. I have a fond memory of Uncle Bob at Fran's Memorial Service. Gus (my son) had sung at Fran's grave side service, and later Uncle Bob took me and Kathy aside with Gus and remarked "I thought Gus was some local kid from the parish that had come to sing...if I had known in the moment it was Fran's grandson singing "Danny Boy" over his casket - I would lost it so bad you all would of had to carry me away". A testimony of sentiment from a wonderful man that I will always remember. Uncle Bob deserves more - but let it be known that this Monday morning out here in California in a beautiful green place we will be singing "Danny Boy" to him.

I was saddened to hear of Bob's passing. He was one of the best managers I ever worked with or for. He taught me a lot about being a firm but fair manager. His sense of humor was infectious, and I often felt like I was listening to a Bob Newhart routine when he was on a roll. He had a particular gentle way of letting me know when I had done something he thought could have been done better, and his advice and counsel was always welcome because of that. It's been twenty years since we worked together but even now, when I find myself in situation as a manager that might require me to be critical of someone's performance, I often first consider, "how would Bob Malloy have dealt with this?" I miss him, but I will carry thoughts of him with me, and try and emulate his ability to apply humor to almost any situation, and his kindness to others in even the most unpleasant circumstances.
