Mr. George Robert Kowalczyk, 69, beloved husband of Diane Mahon and son of the late Frank Kowalczyk and the late Julia Kolodzinski Collins entered into rest September 12, 2005 at his residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 16, 2005 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken. The family will receive friends at George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken, SC on Thursday, September 15 from 6-8 PM
Mr. Kowalczyk was born in Detroit, raised in Hamtramck and taught Industrial Arts in Southfield, Michigan retiring from Birney Middle School in 1989. In addition to his teaching duties, ?Mr. K,? as he was fondly known to his students, also coached intramural and Parks and Recreation Sports. In June of 1998 he and his wife relocated to the lovely city of Aiken settling in Cedar Creek where he made many new friends and discovered his love for the game of golf.
Mr. Kowalczyk was a devoted father and husband, creative designer of decks and art pieces and was recognized for his witty charm and love of life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Kristy and her husband Michael Reis of Louisville, Colorado; Gregg Kowalczyk and his wife Nubia of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Karen Kowalczyk of East Amherst, New York; Jill Ziter and her husband Paul of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Brad Kowalczyk of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Frank Cowall and his wife Dianne of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and six grandchildren.
