A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Charlie Davidson Anderson, Sr. will take place on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 825 Greene St. Augusta, GA, 30901.The family will receive friends at the church following the service Memorials may be directed to the church. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Aiken is assisting the famly. Mr. Anderson, 77, of Aiken, died Saturday at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Born in Augusta, GA, he was the son of the late William Watkins Anderson and Jessie Meadows Anderson. He attended Richmond Academy and played first base for Coach A. L. Williams, winning the state baseball championship in 1951 & 1952. He served his Country in the US Army and then went to work as a lab technician for DuPont/Westinghouse at the Savannah River Site, retiring in 1993. He married Shirley McBeath in 1953 and moved to Beech Island in 1959, where he lived before moving to Aiken in 1980. He was a former member of the Lions Club of Beech Island and was active in Boys Scouts and teaching Sunday school. He enjoyed fishing with his son and painting with his daughter. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Thorban "Bud" Anderson, William Anderson, Jr. and Walter Anderson and five sisters, Virginia Murphy, Jessie Edgar, Marie Diduch, Sara Houk and Florence Rowen. He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Shirley McBeath Anderson, Aiken; a son, Charlie D. "Andy" Anderson, Jr. Angelia, Jackson, SC; a daughter, Carol Lynn Ziemba Mike, Martinez, GA; a brother, James "Lano" Anderson, two sisters, Myrtle Krepps and Rosa Lee White, all of Augusta, GA; four grandchildren, Allison Nestor John, William Casey Anderson Kelly, Andrew Ziemba and Alexandrea Ziemba and two great grandsons, Hayden Nestor and Erik Anderson.
