Owen was a colleague of mine in the 1970s and 1980s in Mobile. As a Professor of HR and Labor Relations in the College of Business at the University of South Alabama, I had the good fortune to work with Owen on various professional activities, such as in the Human Resource Management Association. He was a model of the true professional in Human Resources, and was a teacher to many of us. I am saddened to know that he is gone. He certainly will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Hap's passing. He was a wonderful gentle man, always smiling and pleasant. I first met Hap in a history of Aiken County class where we were the two old folks auditing a college class. He certainly loved history and the Aiken County Historical Museum. My husband and I also shared a love of Midcoast Maine with Hap and CJ. He will be missed.

Our sincere condolences. Owen and CJ were long time friends of ours. Owen hired me into Scott Paper in Mobile in 1962. About 10 years later, I returned to Mobile and worked for Owen. Over the years, we have kept in touch via Christmas cards and an occasional visit. Owen and CJ were two of our favorite people and we will miss them.

We extend our warmest sympathies to Owen`s family at this sad time. Owen was one of my closest friends and long-time colleagues in HR at Scott Paper. We worked many years together at Mobile and Corp Staff. We exchanged notes and talked many times over the years and remained close. He will indeed be missed.

I felt truly blessed to have known Owen and Carol Jane for many years, and my last telephone conversation with Owen was to discuss his grandson's graduation this year in Mobile. He was one of the very first people I met upon joining Scott, and my appreciation for him as an person and executive could not have been higher. My prayers will be with his family as they move forward with this huge void in their lives. May they always be comforted by the knowledge of his profound love for each of them.

I felt a special connection to Owen. He was responsibile for my securing employment at the Mobile, Alabama Scott Paper Company plant as an engineer in 1966 retired from there in 1994. It was uncanny how this transpired as we coincidently came across each other shopping at a local, Mobile store each Christmas for 3 consective years while I was employeed with another company in upstate Alabama. He must have concluded from this chance meeting that I deserved an interview. That ultimately led to me being hired at Scott Paper in Mobile where I enjoyed a successful career. A good man I will always remember, I'm sure is in a very happy place now.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Hap and C.J. I knew them both very well in West Chester and Radley Run.
I sadly heard of C.J.'s passing long after the fact and am doubly sad to know that they are both gone. They will not be forgotten.
