I was shocked and saddened to learn of Pete's death. I had only recently met him during visits to my mother at Eden Gardens. Pete greeted me in the halls and surprised me by asking how my mother was doing. I hadn't realized how the residents keep tabs on, and are interested in and concerned about, the welfare of the other residents. We chatted for a brief time and my second surprise was how alert, perceptive, and upbeat he was. His bearing was so erect, even in his motorized wheelchair, that he seemed very young, indeed. I quickly began looking forward to seeing him during my visits. He was genuinely concerned about those around him, and I am so very sorry that he has left us. I will truly miss him.
