I will greatly miss Mario, as a mentor, colleague, and friend. We first met in the fall of 1973 at American Electric Power in New York. He had recently moved to the U.S. as an engineer, and I was a co-op student. We renewed our friendship when he began work at SRS.
He was then as he was in Aiken, always helpful, humorous, and a good friend.

Sharon and Family - I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Mario in the WSMS Aiken office and I can still hear his voice and see him standing outside of his cube or taking one of his walks around the parking lot. You and your family are in my prayers.

As Mario\'s, Maurine\'s, and Natalie\'s next door neighbor in Metuchen, NJ for 11 years, we certainly got to know and love them. Mark\'s fondest memory of Mario was drinking unusual beers with him, along with Steve Harris and "my friend Bob" , at the Metuchen Inn while cajoling with the bartender. As for Maurine and Natalie, there is not enough space to say how I feel. Natalie, I watched you grow up from a 6 year-old to a lovely young lady. You certainly do not deserve all this grief and heartache. As I am writing this, the tears are dripping out of my eyes on to my cheeks and all I can think to say is to remember your own words that you belted out ad infinitum below my bedroom window:
" tomorrrow, tomorrow, tomorrow will be a better day...". Love, Louise & the entire Schiffman Family

Dear Natalie and Family, Though I only know you through my sister, I still wanted to take a moment to let you know that each of you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time! We completely understand all that you are going through as well...
On brighter note, please always remember that your model helicopter remains on my dining room table awaiting your next visit and another attempt at "flight!" Ha!

I am very saddened to hear of your loss. You have my heartfelt condolences. Mario was always the one I could go to help me solve my computer problems. I shall always think of him fondly as I struggle with my home network and programming problems. I will miss him. He often tallked lovingly of his family while here at work. I am very sorry for your loss.

Please accept my sympathy and condolences.
I worked in Westinghouse and Washington Group organizations with Mario for most of the time period between around 1992 and mid-2004.
During one of our last conversations perhaps the very last one, Mario told me and impressed me with several things about his pre-college education in Italy. One of these was that, in accordance with requirements existing at that time, he had studied both Latin and ancient Greek for several years.
Recently, I had to look something up in a 150-page-long document on a Department of Energy DOE web site www.eh.doe.gov. The document is titled "MELCOR Computer Code Application Guidance for Leak Path Factor in Documented Safety Analysis" -- Final Report May 2004. It deals with a topic that Mario was an expert in and seemed to me to reflect some of his ideas. I later asked around, and, sure enough, Mario was, in effect, the ghostwriter for much probably almost all of this report for the DOE.

I just want to share my sympathy with Natalie, her mother, children, and Mario\'s family. Mario will be sadly missed. All his jokes and comments regardless of how silly and rude they maybe. The request for beer and bushes beans so he can sit down in front of his computer and enjoy his evening. Sorry I had to try to bring a smile with a little humor. Mario was a great man and will be remembered so.
If you need anything at all let me know Natalie.
Love you!
Stacy, Scott and the kids.
