Obituary of Carl Preston Glover

A Funeral Mass for Carl Preston Glover will be celebrated by Fr. Ernest Hepner on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald Glover, Tommy Glover, Mike Glover, Dennis Glover, Thomas Glover and Adam Glover. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken.
Mr. Glover, 50, of Aiken, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at his residence.
A life-long resident of Aiken County, he was the son of Thomas E. Glover, Sr. and the late Nancy Poovey Glover, who died in 2009. Before retiring in 2007, he was employed as a power operator and supervisor at the Savannah River Site where he had worked for twenty-six years. Carl was an active member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #3684. Carl was known as a tinkerer, a joker and a great dad and grandfather. When he worked, he worked hard, when he played, he liked fast cars and motorcycles. In general, Carl enjoyed life and all it's adventures.
In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by a brother, John Alan Glover.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas Glover, Aiken and Adam Glover, Aiken; his granddaughter, Kayleigh Glover; the love of his life, Virginia Shafer, Aiken; his father, Thomas E. Glover, Sr., Aiken siblings, Ann G. Charles "Chick" Key, New Ellenton, Thomas E. Doris Glover, Jr., Williston, Michael S Glover, Aiken, Dennis Peggy Glover, Williston, Donald B. Beth Glover, Aiken and Jane G. Steve Vance, Aiken. .
