Muriel Elizabeth Duerfeldt Wernke, 88, of Aiken, joined the choir of angels in heaven on June 9, 2007 while under Hospice Care of SC. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 14, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Burke, SD, with visitation and rosary at 7 p.m. on June 13, 2007. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke, SD. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 11:00am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her twin brother, Melvin Duerfeldt , brother LaVerne Duerfeldt and her husband of sixty years, Leonard Wernke. She is survived by Lou Ann Ainsworth Scott William R., Aiken, SC; John Leonard Wernke Nancy, New Ellenton, SC; David Ralph Wernke Venus, Saipan, MP; Douglas Eugene Wernke Laurie, Lennox, SD. She was also the grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 12.
