I am very sorry not to be able to attend. That being said, I a very glad that this wonderful woman had such a wonderful life. She completely deserves all the goodness that came to her and more. Her deep capacity for love and kindness shows in the 5 competent and productive children she nurtured. She was kinder to me than my own mother. I celebrate her life and am glad that she is in a better place.

As a teacher at Bernardsville Middle School, I was curious to read the obituary for Barbara Hennelly Barta, the mother of one of my extraordinary colleagues, Mrs. Markie Burke. Although Alzheimer's is an insidious disease, robbing its victims of their memories and minds, Barbara Hennelly Barta seems to have lived quite an amazing life e.g., La Martingale while she possessed her faculties. Perhaps Our Lord and Saviour was in need of some expert antique advice OR just wanted Barbara to witness the birth of her first great-grandchild, Christian, from a front row seat in Heaven. Either way, everyone who loved this wonderful woman should know that she's in God's good hands!

We were sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. There were so many many memories at your house. I think about all the puppies, and oranges, carol's finger stuck in Mom's door as she drives off, the slumber parties and the pancakes, and the polo fields and horses. Also, I loved visiting your Mom at her store and getting to know her in a different way. She was a great lady and will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to all of you.
