Funeral services for Mr. Leonard Clyde Ledford will be held Friday, February 7, 2003 at 6 PM at George Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel, 3175 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC, with Reverend Gary Mathis and Reverend McArthur Grizzard officiating. Interment will follow in Wood Memorial Park, Duncan, SC, at 2 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2003 with Reverend Edward McAhee officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Robinson, Dennis Glover, Carl Cox, Donnie Fulmer, Marshall Lelthco, and Jonathan Ledford. The family will receive friends following the service on Friday until 9 PM at the funeral home. Friends may also call at 808 Ann Dr., New Ellenton, SC. Mr. Ledford, 47, of New Ellenton, SC, died Wednesday, morning, February 5, 2003 at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta. Born in Spartanburg County, SC, a son of John H. Ledford, New Ellenton, SC and the late Joyce White Ledford, he was a former Safety Engineer and had was a lifelong resident of Aiken County. Leonard completed the instructor course in community first aid and safety for the Aiken County Chapter of the American Red Cross, was formerly with the Aiken Rescue Squad and was also a former member of the C.S.R.A. Shag Club. In addition to his father, John H. Ledford, New Ellenton, SC; son, Lamar Clyde Ledford, Graniteville, SC; daughter, Laura Gail Ledford, Lancaster, SC; brother, Larry R. Ledford, New Ellenton, SC; sister, Lorraine Penvose, New Ellenton, SC; and nieces and nephews, Melissa and Derek Penvose and Jonathan, Adam, and Tabitha Ledford, survive. The family has requested that memorials in memory of Leonard be made to American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauegard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
