Marie, Dan, David, Beth and Lucy and your families,
I am sorry to hear of Aunt Mary's passing. She was a wonderful lady with a mischievous smile. I have been reading the letters she and Uncle Elmore wrote, and they are such a treasure. She lived a long and useful life, but something unique has gone out of the world now that she is gone. Much love to you all, your cousin Susan

So ends one chapter in the Fabrick family, and a most distinguished chapter, I might add. Mary and Elmo Fabrick certainly did their part in building a good family and in supporting our country. Like many in this "greatest generation," they deserve the thanks and gratitude of those of us who continue to benefit from their work and their faithfulness. My family's condolences go out to Marie, Dan, Elizabeth, Lucy, and David.

Dear Lucy,
You are a sweet girl and I miss you. Not many days go by at school that I don't wish I were across the hall from you.
Cynthia called to let me know about your mother. You have been a good daughter and I know you find comfort in that. You take care of & provide for so many.
I will be praying for you. God always provides what we need. I had thought I would be able to get to Aiken, but couldn't. I will be back to see you soon. Love, Beth

I remember playing with Beth and Lucy in the Fabrick's backyard. Mrs. Fabrick would bring us watermelon to eat. She would say to us to rinse off the rinds, when we were through, so she could make watermelon rind pickles. I also remember her hitting furniture, she was staining, with a chain before she stained it. She called it antiquing. I love the little memories that stay with me. The last time I visited her was in 2006. Carol and I went by her home when we were passing through town. I know she will be missed. I just wish I will live as full a life as she has.
My condolences to Dan, Marie, David, Beth, Lucy and there families.

We were so sorry to hear of Aunt Mary's passing. Was it two years ago when Dad and I went up to spend the weekend and we went to IHOP for breakfast? They are a wonderful couple and I have so many fond memories especially the humorous. Our prayers and best wishes are with all the EKF and Mainland Fabricks especially. Love Lew, Art and Joyce

What a wonderful soul our dear Aunt Mary was to know and love. So many cherished memories throughout the years flood my mind and heart.
I well remember one summer in the mid-60's when I visited for about a week -- I was about 12 -- when I was inducted into the art of canning peaches, receiving her gentle instructions on how to do it just right.
And 'gentle' seems the best description of her essential character. I never heard a cross word come from her. I will certainly miss her. "When we think of you, we see a smiling face/Loving arms are open wide to share a warm embrace./We can see you now along the path you've trod/ Going on to rest in peace, within the arms of God"

What a beautiful life Aunt Mary led! We have been enjoying "A Legacy of Letters" greatly, and it's wonderful getting to know her and Uncle Elmore better than we ever did in life. We will miss her and her lovely letters to us. She was always a true guide for me when we did our family camping, letting me know when it was safe to return to our campsite, or when food was likely to appear. Just knowing she and Uncle Elmore were around made the world a more certain thing for this kid, and I will always remember them both with great affection.
