Graveside services for Mr. John Stapleton Murdock, Jr. will be held Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 10:30 AM in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC. There will not be a visitation at the funeral home. Mr. Murdock, 77, of Aiken, SC, died Monday, morning, November 28, 2005 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Born in Portland, ME, a son of the late John S. and Edith Nancy Rideout Murdock, he was a graduate of the University of Maine. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Murdock came to Aiken, SC, in 1952 and retired from E.I. DuPont in 1995 after forty-four years of service as an Engineer. An active member of the First Presbyterian Church, he was a Deacon and an elder, coached little league and pony league baseball and also church league basketball. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Betty Jordan Murdock, son, John S. Murdock, III, Marietta, GA; and a daughter, Martha M. Riley, Aiken, SC. A grandson, R.
