Mr. Okey P. James, 86, of Aiken, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015. Funeral services will be private at Southlawn Cemetery and are under the care of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME. Born on December 28, 1928, in Clay, West Virginia, he was a son of the late William Ransom and Lelah M. James. Mr. James lived in Clay most of his life and moved to Aiken in 1954 to work with SRP (DuPont). He worked in the Operations Department for 35 years. He served in the US Army for 2 years as a Medical Technician and a Truck Driver. He received 2 medals; Occupation Medal (Germany) and the National Defense Service Medal. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy James a sister, Ellen Taylor and brothers, Joseph James and Ramson James, Jr. Okey is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Phyllis James; a son, David James (Toby) of Aiken; daughters, Debra Deily (Kevin) of Aiken and Nancy James of Port Charlotte, Florida; four grandchildren, Nicholas Deily (Kristen) of Aiken, Jennifer Deily of Aiken, Julia James (Michael) of Aiken and Shelly James of New Ellenton; three great-grandchildren, Zayne, Kamdyn and Holden Deily; sisters, Evelyn Rogers of N.C., Mava Parsons of Ohio, Jenna Smith of Missouri and Polly Moore of Texas.
