Obituary of Sally M Jordy

AIKEN, SC- Sally M. Jordy passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 5th. Born in Cleveland, OH, she was raised in Pittsburgh, PA, graduated from The Pennsylvania State University and remained an ardent fan and follower of the Nittany Lions her entire life. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim, and together they had four children who were the center of her life. She was a devoted mother and tireless homemaker who worked hard to ensure they were well cared for and taught the right values.
In her fourteen years in Aiken, she was appointed Guardian ad litem, delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at the Aiken SPCA. An avid quilter, knitter, baker and reader she enjoyed being a part of groups in Aiken that shared her same interests. She served in many capacities as a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Aiken and in earlier years worked at the Mother Church headquartered in Boston, MA. She and her husband also served for a dozen summers at the Christian Science House & Chapel at Chautauqua Institution in upstate New York. She held Administrative Assistant positions at various schools, associations and foundations as well as teaching Title 1 reading.
Sally's love for Maine was extraordinary. She spent many summers vacationing there, plus working at Camp Newfound for girls and traveling extensively in the Pine Tree state.
She is survived by those who loved her dearly: her husband, Jim, of 57 years, their children and eight grandchildren: Mark (Lauren) and their children Jim and Jillian; Jeff and his girls Brooke, Claire, & Olivia; Leslie J. McGlashon (Michael) and his son Brandon; Elizabeth and her children Katie and Matthew. Sally is also survived by her sister, Susan McCoy and a nephew Eric Miklas, in CA. A private family gathering will be held this coming summer in Maine.
