Funeral Services for Mr. Dennis W. Bartholomew will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 961 Trail Ridge Rd. Aiken on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 2pm. Burial will take place in Tionesta, PA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken. Memorial donations may be directed to The American Cancer Society or to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 12 noon at Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage, PA with Rev. David Holste and grade-school friend Pastor Douglas Patterson officiating.
Mr. Bartholomew, of Aiken, died peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on December 26th in Mercer, PA. Dennis was a graduate of West Middlesex, PA High School and Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He had been employed by Union Carbide, Wayne, NJ and GlaxoSmithKline, Aiken, SC. He owned All Tune & Lube in Lexington, SC and a consulting business, Premium Technical Services in Aiken. He was involved in the planning of the Relay for Life 2006 and was the chairman of the Aiken County Relay for Life 2007. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and he also supported the band programs of Aiken High School and Schofield Middle School.
Mr. Bartholomew was predeceased by his mother, Patty Grace Thomas Bartholomew.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra A. Bartholomew, Aiken; three daughters, Stephanie A. Bartholomew, Jessica D. Bessette Joseph D., Aiken and Sarah E. Nicholson, Aiken; his parents, Russell W. and Rowenna C. Bartholomew, Hermitage, PA; two sisters, Joy B. Klohonatz Mark, Greensburg, PA and Lori R. Kacsur Gary, McKees Rocks, PA and a step-sister, Susan R. Palyo Ron, Greenville, PA. Dennis was the son-in-law of Morley S. Bean and Irene B. Bean, Tionesta, PA. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
