Obituary of Jeremiah Joseph Guerin

A Requiem Mass for Mr. Jeremiah "Jerry" Joseph Guerin will be celebrated at 12 pm on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Interment, with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church Building on Faith and Love Fund.
Mr. Guerin, 75, of Aiken died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, following an illness.
A son of the late Michael & Bridget O'Dwyer Guerin, he was born in Tipperary, Ireland, and immigrated to the US in 1958. He had lived in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Texas, Missouri, and Georgia until he settled in Aiken in 1999.
Jerry was a member of the Irish Olympic Cycle Team in 1958. Jerry then served in the US Army from 1958 to 1964.
After leaving the service, Jerry continued his education and then worked as a sales manager and member of the Government Council for Wyeth Pharmaceutical for 35 Years.
Jerry was a member of Knights of Columbus, The Legion of Mary, and Chairman for the Aiken County Tea Party.
Jerry was also a Eucharistic Minister, and an Usher at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Maureen Devlin, Bridie Devine and Nellie O'Dwyer and his brothers, Michael & Denny Guerin.
Survivors include, his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Philomena Fitzgerald Guerin of the home; a son Joseph Guerin Kimberly of Bluffton; a daughter, Fiona Pollard Bobby of Hilton Head; a brother, Sean Guerin of Ireland; sisters, Josey Buckley, Terry Cussen Willie and Olive McGrath all of Ireland; a grandson, Michael Sean Guerin of Houston, Texas and numerous nieces & nephews.
