Obituary of Hazel Stewart Seigler
Mrs. Hazel Stewart Seigler, 98, was reunited with her Savior and her precious husband of 64 years, Hallie C. Seigler on Thursday morning, July 12, 2018. As she listened to the sounds of “Amazing Grace” here on earth with loving family members by her beside, Heaven’s choir took up the sounds and gently ushered her in to the presence of her Savior and Lord.
Mrs. Seigler was born on February 13, 1920, the daughter of the late Rev. Noble A. & Ruby Lee Cleckley Stewart. She was a life long resident of Aiken and was a 1937 graduate of Aiken High School. Mrs. Seigler accepted Christ as her Savior in 1932 and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church where she remained a member her entire life. She taught Sunday School for over 50 years teaching children, youth and adults. She was a former member of the Adult Sanctuary Choir and was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. At the time of her passing, Mrs. Seigler was the oldest living member of the church. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Home Demonstration Club in the 1950’s.
Surviving include two daughters and their husbands; Mrs. Jane S. (Steve) Ergle of Aiken and Mrs. Ann S. (Don) Morton of Liberty, S.C.; 3 granddaughters, Mrs. Teri (Rev. K. Scott) Ayers of Aiken, Mrs. Cheryl M.(Donnie) Garrison of Six Mile, S.C. And Ms. Penny Beason of Aiken; 5 great-grandchildren, Marlie (Coty) Courtney, Kailey Beason & Lucas Beason all of Aiken and Bolt Garrison & Bryant Garrison of Six Mile. She was also expecting her first great-great grandchild which is due on what would have been her 99th birthday, February 13, 2019.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Seigler was pre-deceased by brothers, Noble Dewey Stewart & W.A. Stewart and sisters, Louise Maloney, Ruby Ryland, Eunice Powell, Mae Martin & Myrtle Sloan.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 3:00p.m. in the sanctuary of Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. K. Scott Ayers officiating.
Interment services will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00p.m. Saturday evening, July 14, 2018 at the Historic George Funeral Home, 211 Park Ave. W, Aiken SC and at other times at the home of Jane and Steve Ergle, 1984 Columbia Hwy N, Aiken, SC 29805.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church Worship Ministries, 3925 Shiloh Church Road, Aiken, S.C. 29805.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Agape Hospice and especially her primary caregiver Elizabeth Mayes for the loving care given to their mother and grandmother.
