Memorial services for Lt. Col. William H. Domke, of Aiken, SC, who died Wednesday, morning, August 6, 2003 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers will be private.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was a son of the late Henry and Ella Haase Domke. Lt. Col. Domke retired in 1972 after serving twenty-eight years in the United States Air Force having served in England, Africa, and Italy during World War II. He also served in Germany, Japan, Vietnam, as well as in Ohio, New Jersey, Minnesota, Colorado, and Florida domestically.
Surviving are his wife Elsie Domke, stepson and daughter in law, B.J. and Brit Wilson, Aiken, SC; grandchildren, Lars Wilson, Charlotte, NC, Scott Wilson, Singapore and Kristi Wilson, Amsterdam, Holland; and five great-grandchildren, Lauren, Jenna, and Anders Wilson, of Charlotte, NC; and Jade and Hala Wilson, Singapore.
Col. Domke and his wife were residents of Hitchcock House assisted care. Having suffered a stroke some twenty years ago, Col. Domke was partially paralyzed and could not speak, expect for being able to say ?By Golly?, for which he was known at Hitchcock House. ?By Golly?, we will miss you, by golly!
