Obituary of Daniel Keith Herron
Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daniel Keith Herron, age 49, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017.
Keith, as he was affectionately known, was born April 4, 1968 in Aiken, SC to Margaret Quarles Herron and the late John Daniel Herron.
Keith was a well-respected chef for many years and shared his culinary talents with many of the CSRA's fine-dining establishments. Whether interacting with restaurant patrons, coworkers, family members or friends, Keith had a way of telling stories that were larger than life. His stories made you laugh, or maybe even roll your eyes, but they were always undeniably entertaining.
Many will remember Keith as a spontaneous and fun-loving person. He and Michele, who was his wife, best friend and constant companion, would often wake up on a Saturday morning and hit the road for an unplanned excursion to visit the mountains or many other favorite locations. As an avid football fan and enthusiastic supporter of the Clemson Tigers, he spent many weekends with his family cheering on his favorite team. No Tiger Rag chant was complete, however, without the tiny roar of his two-year-old granddaughter Della. Keith and his first and only grand-child had a special bond. From football games to tickle fights and dance recitals, Keith stepped into the role of "Papa Keith" and lit up with excitement.
In addition to his mother and his wife, Keith is survived by his children, Chesley Tench (Barron), Anderson, SC, Derek Herron, Aiken, SC, and Kellie Long (Dalton), Aiken, SC; a granddaughter, Della Blaire Tench, Anderson, SC; four sisters, Linda Burns, Graniteville, SC, Wanda Herron (Alvin), Aiken, SC, Myra Whittle (Randy), Couchton, SC, and Beverly Clark, Augusta, GA; two brothers, Ronnie Herron (Debby), Augusta, GA and Wayne Smith (Barbara), Barnwell, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call this Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in the George Funeral Chapel with Pastor Stephen Phillips and the Reverend Brancie Stephens officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Beck, Kyle Seconi, and Larry Carl. Interment will be private.
