Funeral services for Mr. Walter Feely Goldman will take place Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 3pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with Revs. Bruce Fox, Kenneth Murphy, Carroll Hurley and Tommy Moss officiating. Interment, with military honors will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8pm. Memorial donations may be directed to South Aiken Church of God Building Fund, 2700 Whiskey Rd. Aiken, SC 29803..
Mr. Goldman, 89, of Windsor, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Carriage Hills Living Center in Aiken. A son of the late Leo Goldman and Minnie Hallman Goldman, he was a life long resident of Aiken County, was a member of Earle Church of God and served in the United States Army during W.W. II at the Panama Canal Zone. He was a carpenter by trade and was a residential home builder. After retiring, he served as a volunteer fireman with the Windsor Fire Dept. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing. He will be remembered as a good man, a great father, a dedicated grandfather and a wonderful husband.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Margaret D. Goldman who died in 2005 and by four sisters, Bernice Feagin, Evelyn Goff, Margaret Woodward and Elizabeth Boatright.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry Goldman, Wagener and Donald "Bear" Goldman, Windsor; three daughters, Shelba Cooper, Windsor, Peggy Doolittle, Aiken and Elaine Murphy, Aiken. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
