Still stunned over my friend Sandra's death, only finding out last night. I met her (and Jimmy) at Ft. Jackson in the early 70s, we had stayed in touch over the years. We followed each other's lives, our education, our children, and most recently we found that we both spent time at Edisto Island. Grateful to talk to Jason last night, and thank you Meredith for the note. May our faith sustain us through our grief, and may our memories always give us comfort...

Jim, I have so many wonderful memories of Sandra. Her prayer cards that she would send to say that she was thinking and praying for us always lifted my spirits. She had a beautiful way with words that let us know that we were not alone. She had a gentle, loving, and peaceful spirit about her. I shall miss her smile and thoughtfulness.

Thoughts and prayers to the family during this most difficult time. Sandra and I were cousins and played together when we were children many many years ago. We lost touch after all these years. Had heard about her passing and after reading all the touching oomments how her life had touched many lives with her giving heart and personality.... Jimmy, Jason, and Joye,
There are no words to express how I feel. I knew when Jason called that something was wrong, but I never guessed it would be news of her passing. Sandra and I met about 48 years ago at church camp, and I am so thankful that we continued communicating, whether it was by mail, phone, or visits. She was the best of friends. We could always pick up where we left off no matter the time in between. I never heard Sandra say anything bad about anyone. She was such a special person and loved God and her family. I know she is in a better place today, and she is rejoicing in heaven with all of her loved ones and friends who went on before her. I look forward to her greeting me when God calls me home. Jimmy, Jason, and Joye, know how much she loved each of you and hold the special memories close to your heart and it will help to get you through this difficult time. Let God comfort you and wrap his loving arms around you and give you peace. I so much wanted to attend the service, if only it had been on Saturday, but know that I will be there in spirit and love. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

What a loss for those she left. Such a sweet, sweet spirit. I met Sandra in Longaberger basket days. She was as excited as we were to get a new one each time. Loved, Loved the short visits we had. Jim,
What can one say when someone so dear leaves us to be with our heavenly Father? I was shocked to hear of Sandra's passing as I had just spoken with her at the last VdC gathering. She looked so good and seemed so happy, sharing with me how wonderful it was she could be back in Choir again. She is now singing in God's choir of angels. Sandra personified Jesus' example, accepting people unconditionally. Helping was her spiritual gift, whether in person or through cards and notes. When she was dealing with health issues, she reached out from home serving the body of Christ through prayer and encouraging words with other palanca during a VdC weekend. She loved the Lord and her family so much. We kept in touch through the years, and I considered her a faithful sister in Christ. She will be missed, but I know I will be able to rejoice with her in heaven someday when we are united in the Lord's presence. Know that you and the family will be in my thoughts as I lift you up in prayer to the love and comfort of our Father in heaven. God loves you, and so do we.

Dear Jim, Jason and Joy,
My heart goes out to you at the loss of Sandra, such a loving and kind woman. Jennifer, Duane and myself were in shock upon hearing of Sandra's passing. Sandra always had a kind word and always told me that The Lord was with us, to keep my faith and all would be ok. She always worried about you Jimmy, so thankful for the never ending love you gave her, always concerned for your well being, and that you took on so much. But she new that was you, a Christian man full of love. I imagine your heart must feel so broken but knowing your faith, you must feel joy knowing that Sandra is now with our Lord and no longer suffering or in pain.
I look around my home and see her love in all the little items she would give to me just because. I can't really express to you in words how I feel, nor do I now how you must feel. I just want you to know that Sandra touched my heart and the two of you brought me closer to Christ with all the kindness you haven shown Us over time.
You know I am here should you or your family need anything at all.
I just thank The Lord I had Sandra in my life, if only for a short time here on earth. Someday we will all be together with her, she is smiling down on us until we meet again.

Dear Jim,
I am so shocked to hear about Sandra and distraught for you and your chilfren's loss. She was such a caring, warm, giving and Godly women. No matter how she felt she always cared about how you were doing and always gave a positive word of encouragement and loving smile. Mom and I loved getting your Christmas card and trying to read her very small print. Her writing was great for all the notes she took in her Bible. Although we are all grieving, your family especially, Sandra is singing in Heaven right now and will be waiting with open arms when we arrive.
