Mary C. "Lucy" Rutt, 88, of Aiken, died Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. "Lucy" was born on July 16, 1921 in Portland, ME, the daughter of Harry Springer and Helen Marr Springer. Lucy graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Home Economics. She married her first husband, Carlton Crossland on February 20, 1942. Of that marriage, two children were born, Kate Helen Crossland and Steven C. Crossland, both of who predeceased her in death. On September 17, 1971, she married Eugene M. Rutt and moved from South Pasadena, CA to Bainbridge Island, WA, where she lived until moving to Aiken, SC in 1995. She had volunteered as a "Pink Lady" at Aiken Regional Medical Centers and was also a past member of P.E.O. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two husbands, her two children and a brother, Bruce Springer. She is survived by her daughter in law, Vikki Crossland, grandchildren, Keith P. Crossland and Brandi C. Cook and husband Ryan Cook and one great granddaughter Haley Crossland. At her request, no service will be held.
