Graveside services for Mr. Samuel "Sam" Milton Allen will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 3pm at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:30 - 2:30pm at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken. Mr. Allen, 82, of Aiken, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Blue Ridge, GA, he was the son of the late Quince Allen, Sr. and Maude Payne Allen. He moved to Aiken in 1952 from Etowah, TN. Samuel served his country in the Navy during the Korean War and was a member of VFW Post in Aiken. Samuel retired after thirty four years of service at DuPont Savannah River Site as an equipment tester. He enjoyed fishing, going to the mountains and attending family reunions.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary Frances Allen, sister, Geraldine "Jerry" Sims, brothers, John "Jack" Allen, Wendell Allen, and Quince "Que" Allen, Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Angela Hugh Skinner, Aiken; Jennifer Dennis Taylor, Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Brittany Skinner, and Ashley Skinner.
