AIKEN, SC -- A Requiem Mass for Phyllis J. Spitale, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the old historic St. Mary Help of Christian Catholic Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, an organization that Phyllis dedicated many years, volunteering and raising funds for research and a cure. Donations can also be made to Autism Speaks, another charity close to Phyllis's heart to benefit her Grandson Joseph Spitale at www.autismspeaks.org.
Mrs. Spitale, 76, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016. Born in Baton Rouge, LA she was a daughter of the late George and Mildred Morgan King. Mrs. Spitale was a graduate of Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in New Orleans and spent over 38 years working as a Registered Nurse in hospitals and various community settings. She was a communicate of St. Mary Help of Christian Catholic Church.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Paul Spitale of Aiken; four children, Paul S. Spitale (Christine) of Highland Mills, New York, Susanne Spitale of Windham, New Hampshire, Mark J. Spitale of New Market, Maryland and Thomas A. Spitale (Judy) of Edina, Minnesotta; a sister, Susan Pagel of Deer Park, Texas; a brother, George Paul King of Houston, Texas; her sister and brother-in-law Richard and Rosemary Baumann and 8 grandchildren.
