Obituary of Marie Morris McCaughin

A funeral Mass for Marie Morris McCaughin will be celebrated on Monday May 8th at 12 noon at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The re will be a vigil service on Sunday at 6:00pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW. The family will then receive friends until 8pm. Mrs. McCaughin, 78 of Aiken, died Thursday, May 4, 2006 at Selected Specialty Hospital in Augusta, GA. A daughter of the late Robert Lee and Frances Marie Phillips Morris, she was born in Olar, SC. She had lived in Augusta, GA from 1949 until 1976 when she moved to New Ellenton where she lived until moving to Aiken in 1993. She retired in the mid 1980?s from the Richmond County School System where she had worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for thirty years. Mrs. McCaughin was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus Council #3684 and was a past-president of the Woodside Ladies Golf Association and a member of Women of Woodside. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by several brothers and sisters and a daughter, Cynthia Johnson, who died in 1985. Mrs. McCaughin is survived by her husband Daniel Robert McCaughin, Aiken; a son, Robert Kimberley McCaughin, Pearcy, AR and a daughter, Pamela Charles Jackson, North Myrtle Beach, SC. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Brandi Edwards, Kimberly Gambill, Tiffany Scott Butts, Heather West, Cynthia McCaughin, and Caitlin McCaughin; and two great granddaughters, Taylor Butts and Haley Butts.
