To the family of Mr. McCreary: My sincere condelences to you. My mother, Lillie Ford worked for Mr. McCreary for many years and retired about two years ago when her own health challenges necessitated her moving to Ohio to be cared for by my family. She always spoke of him with much affection and continued to supply him with fruitcakes during the Christmas holidays. The irony is that she passed away on September 20 not knowing that he had already gone on before her. I trust that theirs will be a joyous renuion. Psalm 121 has been an immense comfort to me; let it be to you as well.

From soldier to soldier, I render a final salute to one of the quiet heros of the greatest generation. You were an inspiration to me that I could always achieve more and yet remain humble.
Cannon, please accept my sincerest condolences for the loss of your brother. A truly great man joins the ranks in heaven, along with Uncle Bub, and I miss him in my heart already.

Cannon...Bob and I have known Robert for many years. Bob served on Aiken's Design Review Board with him and Robert and I were involved with The Friends of Hopelands & Rye Patch and Historic Aiken Foundation together. We enjoyed a number of lovely Sunday afternoon concerts at his home years ago and always considered it an honor being in his company. He was a perfect gentleman. Aiken has lost one of its finest citizens and we all will miss him terribly.

I have been acquainted with James Robert for a lifetime. I was raised in Aiken and although he was three years older than I and went to different schools we were acquainted. His father Earnest who ran the dry goods store on Main St.known as R.W.McCreary and my father were good friends. Later on when I worked in Augusta downtown and he did also we would often greet each other on Broad St. May the Lord rest his soul in heaven.

We at Bilo will miss Mr. McCreary. Katie Parker and I have gotten his groceries for about 15 years. He would call and give us his order and we would get them and take them to his house. I will miss his smiling face every Wednesday.
Mr. McCreary may you rest in peace and never have another bad day or back pain.
Sincerely,
