Obituary of Keith William Noziglia
Please share a memory of Keith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Keith William Noziglia was born December 21, 1934, in Erie, PA, loving life and making people laugh, until he died on January 24, 2009, in Aiken, SC, of cancer and heart failure.
Keith had a special talent with people, and rarely met a stranger. It was difficult to be around him for very long before one smiled or laughed. Keith truly loved people, especially ladies to whom he was very gallant. His wit was legendary, and people felt good in his presence. Keith was a perfect husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and a special friend to many. He was an excellent cook and often said that he'd cook rather than eat his wife's cooking which he said was either a burnt offering or a sacrifice.
Keith was a strong man, both in physique and character. His years as a meat cutter, hauling sides of beef on his shoulders developed his body. His goodness, kindness and innate sense of justice marked his character.
Keith always loved music. As a student he played the cello, and once sang in a chorus in an off Broadway production. Even with the devastation of radiation on his throat, he sang hoarsely for his wife and family, who loved it.
Keith was honorably discharged from the Navy on November 3, 1963, serving on active duty in the U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion # 6 Seabees, and later on reserve duty. He received the Good Conduct Medal in 1953.
His career as a meat cutter began at Gartner & Harf Meats in Erie, PA, and was honed in the Navy where he was a Commissary man. He worked at Western Provision in Erie, then, with a partner, ran The Butcher Shoppe and Northern Foods in Mansfield, OH.
Keith was the son of Edward and Helen Robbins Noziglia of Erie, PA, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and David Noziglia.
He is survived by his widow, Carla Miller Noziglia; two sisters: Ann Noziglia Thomas of Margate, FL and Dawn Noziglia Johnson Rev. Heskith of Coconut Creek, FL; four children: Victor Noziglia of Toronto, Canada, Valerie Noziglia Lindenberger Jim of St. David, AZ, Pama Noziglia Cook of Aiken, SC and Kathryn Noziglia Volpi Rev. Joseph of Burbank, CA.; ten grandchildren: Corey Noziglia, Jennifer Noziglia Lucifora, David Chaffee, Elizabeth Bernard Zhao, Kathryn Lindenberger, Brianna and Evan Cook, Antonia, Joninna and Mickilina Volpi; and four great-grandchildren.
