Robert Alan Rees, Sr., 74, beloved husband of Lillian Gunter Rees of Aiken, SC died, Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at University Hospital, Augusta, GA. Born in Galesburg IL, son of the late Everett A. and Margaret Johnson Rees. He was educated in the school system of Illinois. He served his country from 1950 until 1954 in the US Navy, during the Korean Conflict. He worked for E. I. Dupont at the Savannah River Site for several years then founded Rees Electric Company in 1966, until he retired in 1999. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rees was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Rees, and Donald Rees. Mr. Rees is survived by his wife, Lillian Gunter Rees of Aiken, daughters, Renee Zarnowski of Anderson, SC, Angela Charles Byers of Sparta, NC, Pamela Craig Brantley of Aiken, son, Robert Alan Rees, Jr. of Aiken, stepsons, David Young of Aiken and Steven Young of Rehoboth Beach, DE, and 8 loving grandchildren. Mr. Rees is also survived by two sisters, Charlotte Phil Fielder of Knoxville, IL, and Joann Woods of Oneida, IL. Memorial services for Mr. Robert Alan Rees, Sr. will be Friday August 4, 2006 at 3:00 pm at Millbrook Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Pillow officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Allen, Marcus Huff, Ron Williamson, Larry Andrews, Duke Sudlow, Bob Moody, Jack Taylor, Tommy Wessinger, Marshall Cain, Jutson Fulmer, Chip Fulmer, and Chris Fulmer. Family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or Millbrook Baptist Church Building Fund, 176 East Pine Log Road Aiken, SC 29803. George Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, Aiken is in charge of arrangements.
