Christine Sawyer Mrs. Rosa Christine Bates Sawyer, 84 of Aiken, passed away Friday May 9, 2008 at the Shadow Oaks Assisted Living Center, Aiken. Graveside services will be held Monday May 12, 2008 at 11:00 am at Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pastor Bob Byrnes will officiate. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. George Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the family. Christine was born in Aiken County, daughter of the late James Phoenix and Rosa Josephine Hendrix Bates. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a member of the choir. She had worked at the Farmers & Merchants Bank and the C & S Bank for forty eight years retiring in 1990. She was also a member of the Aiken Garden Club. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Thomas G. Sawyer. She is survived by cousins, Michael J. Donna Kramer, Elise Demetrice Weatherford Morton, Margaret Schulhofer Rapp, Susan Schulhofer Kleinbub, Scott Rand Schulhofer and Amy Pryor.
