Funeral services for Mrs. Madeleine C. Duryea will take place on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 2pm at All Saints Anglican Church with Rev. George F. Alexander officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive
Mrs. Duryea, 92, of Aiken, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at PepperHill Nursing Center, Aiken.
A daughter of the late Ernest G. Cooper and Frances L. Crouse Cooper, she was born in Denton, MD where she had lived, except during her service to her country as a Navy WAVE during WWII, before moving to Aiken in 1965.
She had served the community as a social worker, being one of the charter members of ACTS, Area Churches Together Serving, and as a volunteer receptionist at Hitchcock Healthcare. She was a member of All Saints Anglican Church and served on numerous committees over the years.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank William Duryea, Jr. 1984; a sister, Frances Lee McCormick and a brother, Ernest Cooper.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Stephen Allen, Aiken and Mary Duryea Paul Hansen, Atlanta, GA and a son, Dr. Thomas William Duryea, PhD., Mesa, AZ and two granddaughters, Melody Hansen and Sarah Allen Zane Prosser. She is also survived by a great grandson, Blane Prosser.
