Graveside funeral services, with military honors, for Mr. Beverly "BJ" Fowler will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 1pm at Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8pm at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken.
Mr. Fowler, 88, of Aiken, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A Son of the late Henry C. Fowler and Edith Minor Fowler, he was born in Portland, TN and moved to Aiken fifty eight years ago.
He was married to Mildred Kathleen Parrish, of Louisville, KY, and had two children, his daughter, Dawn, and his son, Kim. He served in the US Navy during WW II and then attended the University of Louisville, where he graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry. After a short stint living in Indiana, he moved his family to Aiken and spent over 30 years completing his career with DuPont at the Savannah River Plant. Over the course of his life, he pursued interests in golf, bicycling, and fishing. Mr. Fowler enjoyed spending many years with his wife and family at Clarks Hill Lake. He was loved, made opportunities for many good memories, and will be missed.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen (Parrish) Fowler, a daughter, Dawn Barrett and a son, Kim Fowler.
He is survived by two grandsons, Wes Barrett, Aiken and Damion Barrett, Seneca, SC and two great grandchildren, Caleb Preston Barrett and Kierston Dawn Barrett.
