Barbara E. Cocallas, 66, of Woodside Plantation, Aiken, SC. passed away at her home on April 5, 2010, with her loving and devoted husband, Evans G. Cocallas, at her side. Barbara fought a very inspirational battle with cancer. She handled her illness with courage, poise and true grace. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother Kathryn Morello of North Port, Fl.; her brother Howard Nina Rausch also of North Port, Fl.; her stepchildren Todd Cherie Cocallas of Eden Prairie, Mn., and Lynne Cocallas of Lincolnshire, Il.; two grandchildren Coty and Evan Cocallas of Eden Prarie, Mn.; an aunt and several cousins; and many dear friends. She was preceeded in death by her father Howard W. Rausch.
Barbara was born on July 3, 1943 in Chicago, Il. Her family moved to Lansing, Il. where she attended elementary school and Thornton Fractional High School. She earned a B.A. from The University of Denver. She pursued a successful career in sales and marketing prior to her retirement as Vice President of Human Resources for ASG Sherman Graphics in Chicago, Il. On March 3, 1980, Barbara married Ev Cocallas. Their marriage was a true love story which lasted 30 years. They lived in Inverness, Il. before moving to Woodside Plantation on Feb, 14, 2000. Although Barbara loved to play golf, , her great pleasure was the comraderie of her many, many friends. She loved to entertain at home with elegant dinners.
A memorial service will be held at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 1pm. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service.
