Audrey Alda Alexander Sommer, 71, of Montmorenci, SC died Monday, October 25, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Center, Aiken, South Carolina.
Audrey was born in San Francisco, California on May 29, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Victor and Harriet Newell Evans Alexander. She was the widow of the late Colonel William Everett Sommer of Montmorenci.
Audrey graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1973. She was an Interior Designer by profession, working in New Orleans and Savannah, Georgia for most of her career. Audrey was a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, serving as Historian for the Society of Mayflower Descendants in South Carolina. She was also a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as Registrar of the Trenton Chapter for several years.
She is survived by her daughters, Johanna Germaine Sommer, Montmorenci, SC, Alda Alexandra Sommer Walters, Keith, Aiken, SC and Lt. Col. Ellen Sommer Clark, Grant Savannah, GA. Her grandchildren are Michael Merritt Bruce, Victor John Wyszynski, IV, Kylie Sommer Clark, Scott William Clark and Glen William Clark.
Private funeral services were held on Saturday. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center assisted the family.
