Ms. Jean E. Roche died October 30, 2010 Unihealth Post Acute Care in Aiken. Born in Rochester, NY on July 3, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Miller Roche. She had resided in Aiken for the past twenty-five years. A professional artist in the mediums of painting and drawing, she attended a number of art schools including the prestigious Rochester Institute of Technology in New York and the San Diego School of Arts and Crafts. Jean served two years in the US Navy during World War II and retired from Eastman Kodak in Rochester after working twenty years as a graphic designer. Her love of art kept her sketching, drawing and penciling all her life. Along with her serious artwork, she produced cartoon drawings that delighted many of her friends. She was an avid golfer and was dedicated to the well being of animals. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Jim Roche, Bill Roche, Francis Roche, sisters, Gertrude Calhoun, Cathleen Rummler, and Ann Gruneisen. She is survived by her nieces Joanne Shannon, Pittsford, NY; Cheryl Gravelle, Williamson, NY; nephew William Roche of Florida, a number of great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by close friends, Jocelyn Todd and Trish Arnold. Friends are invited to gather at 10:30am on Friday, November 5, 2010 in the breakfast room at Cumberland Village to remember Jean and to celebrate her life.
