Obituary of Kersey Lee Campbell

A celebration of life service for Mr. Kersey Lee Campbell will be held Sunday, June 3, 2007 at 3pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken with Rev. Donald Shires officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC, 29210-1790. Mr. Campbell, 69, of New Ellenton, died Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Trinity Hospice, Augusta. Born in Union Grove, NC, he was the son of the late Lonnie Lee and Celeste Garris Campbell. He lived in Statesville, NC and Winston-Salem, NC before moving to New Ellenton in 1980. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Jackson and Local Union # 150. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He drove a special needs bus for ten years for the Aiken County Public School System. Kersey always liked to joke. He was always known for passing out candy to people he come in contact with. He loved his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Thurmond Campbell. He is survived by his wife of forty one years, Mary Chapman Campbell, daughters, Kristy Campbell and her husband John Lewis, Andrea Stawney and her husband Keith, North Augusta, Elizabeth Campbell, New Ellenton, sister Wannoa Weinle, Philadelphia, PA, Janet Resch, Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Megan Lewis, Jessica Lewis, John Henry Lewis, Jacob Stawney, Grace Stawney, Ashlee Price, and several nieces and nephews.
